Les Corts award honour to Guus Hiddink

Les Corts Valencianes presented their annual awards on the occasion of April 25th, the day of the Valencian parliament. The ‘Francesc Vinatea’ distinction went to the people of Ukraine, while the ‘Guillem Agulló’ honour was received jointly by former Valencia CF coach Guus Hiddink and secondary school teacher Miquel Álvarez Dolç.
The Guillem Agulló distinction is awarded "to outstanding individuals and entities in the fight against racism, xenophobia and hate crimes," according to the institutional declaration made on April 16th, 2016.
In the case of the Dutch coach, this recognition comes on the 30th anniversary of his outstanding anti-fascist gesture during his time as coach of Valencia CF. On February 9th, 1992, Hiddink ordered the removal of a banner with Nazi symbols from the Gol Norte end at Mestalla, before a game between Valencia CF and Albacete Balompié.
Hiddink will be present at Mestalla to witness the derby between Valencia CF and Levante UD this Saturday, on Matchday 34 of the LaLiga season
